Hello, I am Sandhja!

This website works as a creative space to share my novels, travels, music, human interest stories and thoughts on life as an artist and a multicultural person.

I'm a 26 year old singer-songwriter and storyteller. I was born in Finland with a Finnish father and an Indian Guyanese mother. I consider myself to be a Third Culture Individual (TCI), bilingual and bicultural, a blend of the east and west.

Writing poems and stories has been a lifelong passion of mine, but until now I have never shared them with the public, except for the songs that I've written on my albums. I have received no professional musical training; everything I have learned about music has been by trial and error, stemming from a natural talent and a genuine love for the art of music and storytelling.

I started making songs as an early teen, but only after meeting my producer at the age of 18 did I start making music in a professional manner. I got my first recording contract with Sony Music at the age of 21. I published my first album named "Gold" when I was 23 years old and my second album "Freedom venture" when I was 25 years old. I won the Finnish Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (New Music Competition) in the spring of 2016 and in consequence represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest held in Stockholm in that same year with the song "Sing it away".

In Depth

As an artist, it is essential to show vulnerability, since it is the birthing place of creativity and self-reflection.

In my other profession as a nurse I have learned that there is a story behind every diagnosis. It is easy to judge each other based on our appearance and situation in life, but only by listening to each others stories can we understand each others paths.

I started this blog with a mission to show vulnerability, bravery and creativity.
